UPDATE: The Stock Archive Makeover Contest is cancelled. Unfortunately, interest was relatively low, and feedback suggested that it might be a bit conplicated for some folks, so I'm probably going to opt to get the CSS and customized ID and icon myself, both made for and by me.

Thanks very much to donators and judges, and apologies to anyone who was interested.

We were trying to have this contest for ages now, and it just didn't seem like it was going to pan out, so we're letting it go.


We've also decided that a future stock-related contest is much more likely, and closer to home. So stay tuned!





A little while ago, we ran a poll concerning whether or not to turn the Stock Archive into a group when the option becomes available. For the most part, people were very receptive to the idea, although some people liked the idea of preserving the archive as is, but making the group separate.

I'm still not sure how groups works, especially for something that's not a club. But, I promise to do the research so that we can make this an optimal place for those in search of stock to fit their needs.





Thanks also to people who take the time to both recommend stock to us and share their stock accounts with us. It's a busy job, and we may not be able to get to every recommendation right away, but we'll definitely get to it, and appreciate the heads-up. It's contributions like this that help our archive grow.

CONTEST PURPOSE: To update the archive's look with one that is both cohesive and visually appealing.

PARTICIPANT OBJECTIVE: Participants are required to create a journal CSS Design, DevID, and icon for *StockArchive.

THE RULES:

Participants are required to create a CSS Design (pre-existing coding is not absolutely necessary, but functionality will be taken into consideration at judging!), a DevID, and an icon. Stamps, banners, etc. are optional, but not required.

As we are a stock archive, we are very much interested in a theme relating to stock, as well as libraries, archives, books, etc; something that gives a visual sense of what we do. Entries should stay as close to the desired theme as possible. A rainbow-colored design about fairies and butterflies is nice, but not quite what we're looking for. Entries that stray too far from what we're after will not be accepted.

Participants are allowed to enter the contest up to three times. Each entry should include at least one CSS Design for the journal, DevID, and an icon.

Each entry should be unique. That is to say, you cannot submit different color versions of one group of designs. If you've changed images as well as color, that's different, but otherwise it would be best to submit alternative color options as ONE entry.

Any and all resources used (stock, brushes, textures, etc.) must be credited, preferably in the design, but at the very least, in the artist's comments. Submissions found to be using any uncredited resources will be disqualified. Take this into strong consideration when using stock from Stock Exchange. Credit the actual source; "sxc.hu" will not cut it. Same goes for other sites.






We want to make this contest as successful as possible and if you'd like to help, you're more than welcome. Things like subscriptions, features, exclusive goodies, etc. are more than appreciated. At present, judges are =bp-girl, *Gwathiell, =HtBlack, `ginkgografix, and *Crazygoblin21. We are on the lookout for additional judges, and I'll probably be noting some folks this week to ask for help. If you'd be interested in volunteering, that would be great. Note: Judges CANNOT participate in the contest.

First thanks to Saint *Gwathiell who has been helping to keep this archive alive. I myself have been absent for months, largely due to circumstances beyond my control.

In any case the contest was delayed unfortunately, and I must apologize to the few people who were interested in participating, and the people who were good enough to offer prizes and promotion. I feel really bad that things didn't work out at the time.

Now, does this mean there WON'T be a contest? Actually no, there is.

I'm working out the details and there will even be a CASH prize.

Archive Makeover!


Greetings from the =StockArchive! If you're unfamiliar with us, the purpose of our archive is to list as many stock accounts as possible. Not only that, but to allow those who access our archive to know as much about the stock accounts as possible before visiting: What kind of stock is found, what the rules are, if it can be used in prints or off-site, etc. We want to make it as easy as possible to locate all kinds of stock for usage.

We've been around for roughly a year and a half, and some aspects of our account have been slow to change...mainly our icon, DeviantID, and Journal CSS. So, in order to help bring us up to date, interact more with the community, and have a little fun, it was decided to have a contest.


Contest Goal!

You are to design a custom Journal CSS*, DeviantID, and icon specifically for the archive. To get a feel for what we're looking for, pay attention to previous themes. It doesn't have to strictly library, archive, or office-themed, but please keep in mind what we do when designing your submissions.



Rules

1.) Each person can submit as many times as they want, there is absolutely no limit.

2.) Each participant must design at least (1) Journal CSS*, (1) DeviantID, and (1) icon. You do not have to include stamps.

3.) While you do not have to adhere strictly to the theme of our archive (do be creative), if your submissions are judged to be too far off what we're looking for, we may not accept them.

4.) If your work uses stock and or other resources that are NOT your own, you MUST credit those sources.

5.) Please link back to the contest journal in your artist comments.

This archive, despite periods of inaction (mainly my fault. ) continues to exist and grow, and it cannot have happened without your support. Thank you all very much for your help and participation.

Also, an apology for the extended haitus and allowing the sub to run out. As you can see, we're subbed for a few months, and hopefully I'll be able to keep the archive subbed.


News...

First and foremost, the archive is ACTIVE, meaning we are currently adding stock accounts to the archive. If you'd like to be listed or know some stock that you'd like to see listed, please send us note. If you'd like to send links to multiple archives, that's fine, too.

A quick note: Before asking to be added or suggesting a stock account, please CHECK THE ARCHIVE to see if it may have already been listed because it's possible. Also, only submit your requests and or suggestions once. They'll be added asap, I promise.

Also, I'm very interested in continuing to support unknown stockers. Suggestions, however are closed for the next couple of weeks as the archive gets squared away. When everything is settled a journal or poll will be posted.


Mods!

I have been absent for a bit and I'm still foggy over who it is that has access to this archive. Also, it's a new year and I'm ready to move forward, and that includes...a password change! So, if you are still actively modding or interested in modding please contact me as soon as possible so I know who to contact after changing things over.
